Quails Gate Okanagan Kelowna Gewurztraminer Wine
2007 QUAILS' GATE GEWURZTRAMINER
Winemakers Notes:
Harvested from cooler vineyards in Central and South-East Kelowna. The clay and limestone soils, reminiscent of those in Alsace, give the wine a soft mineral character adding depth and power. Hand picked and whole bunch pressed prior to cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh flavours. Fermentation was stopped with some residual sweetness to balance the wine’s bracing acidity and add texture. The wine may be consumed now while the flavours and vibrant and fresh, though it will continue to evolve in the bottle and careful cellaring of 2-3 years will be rewarded.
Tasting Notes:
The 2007 vintage is fresh and fruit driven with notes of cinnamon spice mingling with pink grapefruit and hints of pear. With age, complex aromas of lychee nut and floral notes will emerge. The palate is rich and sweet and crisp acidity to balance on the finish. This wine pairs nicely with spicy Asian influenced dishes and West Coast fusion cuisine.

"The former 'Limited Release' label has a new look and a crowd pleasing 10 grams per litre of residual sugar. It's fermented cold, in stainless steel, using north and central Okanagan fruit and the result is a terrific little Gewurztraminer. It has a fresh, lively pear and lychee nut fruit flavour flecked with spicy, floral, mineral bits. Thai, Indian, Chinese - take your pick, or put some away for that Thanksgiving turkey."
