Quails Gate Okanagan Kelowna Chasselas Pinot Blanc Wine
2009 QUAILS' GATE CHASSELAS-PINOT BLANC-PINOT GRIS
Winemakers Notes:
Harvested from the Quails’ Gate Estate vineyards, the
deep roots of these Chasselas vines extend into the
subsoil’s of the Boucherie Mountain slopes, which brings more crisp, complex notes to the fruit. This unique cool climate region provides good heat and ripening potential while retaining bright acidity due to cool night temperatures. All 3 varietals are hand harvested, whole bunch pressed and fermented cold in stainless steel tanks with cultured yeasts to preserve the crisp, fresh fruit
flavours. The wine is best consumed young.
Tasting Notes:
True to style this wine is made for summer! The 2009
vintage is a medley of tropical fruits, passion fruit pear,
citrus, elderflower and hints of toasted almonds. The
texture is light, but rich with freshness and pure fruit expression. With moderate alcohol and excellent balance, this wine is suited for lighter pairings or as a patio sipper on its own. Try this classic summer wine with warm brie over peach preserve on a crostini, or mixed greens and root vegetable salad with quince dressing.
Awards & Accolades:
2008 Vintage:
"This aromatic white blend is half Chasselas (a Swiss varietal) with equal parts of the other two varietals. Quails’ Gate produced 11,000 cases of a light (12% alcohol) and refreshing wine. The wine shows aromas and flavours of sweet lime, honey dew melon, apple with a hint of minerals in the texture. The wine is finished with 15 grams of residual sugar and 7.2 grams of acid, a balance that creates an impression of dryness. The wine is very refreshing. 88 points"
