2010 QUAILS' GATE DRY RIESLING

Winemaker's Notes:

Our Riesling is handpicked and sourced entirely from 26 year old vines in the Quails' Gate Estate vineyards. The deep roots that extend into the subsoils of the Boucherie Mountain slopes bring more complex mineral and slate notes to the fruit. The 2010 season was low yielding, producing an intense ripe Dry Riesling. This wine is cold fermented with multiple yeast strains to add complexity and varietal character. Classic aged Riesling characters will develop in the bottle over a 2-3 year period and will reward careful cellaring up to 5 years.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of honeydew melon, green tea and limey mineral notes are abundant and combine with a fresh juicy palate of green apple acidity and genuine fruit sweetness. Enjoy this wine with roasted pear and endive salad or Dungeness crab cakes.

Awards & Accolades:

Gold Medal - All Canadian Wine Championships 2011

90 points - Natalie MacLean                                 Absolutely incredible quality for the price, and I love that the alcohol isn't high: makes this a wonderfully refreshing sipper over an evening. Gorgeous aromas of lime, citrus and mouth-watering acidity for so many dishes. Yum!
