2006 QUAILS' GATE OLD VINES FOCH

Winemakers Notes:

Named for the French World War I hero, General Ferdinand Foch, Marechal Foch grapes produce an intense and full bodied red wine. This Old Vines Foch was harvested in October 2006 from 26 year old vines in our Osoyoos vineyards. This site provides great heat during the growing season that gives very ripe, concentrated fruit that was picked at over 28 brix. Fermented to near dryness and aged in American oak barrels for 18 months, this wine will improve for up to 5 years.

Tasting Notes:

Very dark and inky in colour, this wine has notes of dark fruits, Christmas cake, chocolate and saddle leather that mingle with a savoury, sweet and sour palate. An elegant mouthfeel with light, supple tannins support this rich, round wine. This wine makes a terrific accompaniment to braised lamb, caribou or goat cheese ravioli.
