Quails Gate Okanagan Kelowna Rose Wine
2008 QUAILS' GATE ROSÉ
Winemakers Notes:
Harvested in October 2008, this Rosé is made with 95% Gamay Noir grown in the Estate vineyards on the Boucherie Bench. The 2008 vintage was blended with 5% Pinot Gris adding body and complexity to this irresistible wine. The grapes were crushed and soaked overnight allowing the clear juice to draw flavour and colour from the dark grape skins before being separated for cold fermentation. Although technically dry, the fruit ripeness and weight suggest a hint of sweetness, which is beautifully balanced with the other components in the wine. This Rosé is meant to be consumed early while the flavours are crisp and vibrant.
Tasting Notes:
Fresh is the word, and very pretty in Pink! Plump, ripe raspberry, strawberry and red currant aromas mingle together in this deliciously fruity, creamy Rosé. The layers of fruit are enhanced by the wines crisp acidity resulting in an extremely versatile wine that is perfect for sipping with friends or with antipasto platters, melon & proscuitto or seared tuna. Stock up for the season and serve well chilled.
Awards & Accolades:
"Here is a screamingly good buy but only 3,000 cases were released. The wine is 95% Gamay Noir with a dash of Pinot Gris to add body and fruitiness. And is there ever fruit! This is a bowl full of strawberries and rhubarb. The wine is technically dry but the fruit flavours impart a refreshingly sweet impression on the mid-palate. Every glass tastes like more. 89 (points)"
