2007 QUAILS' GATE ROSÉ
Winemakers Notes:
Harvested in October 2007, this Rosé is made from 100% Gamay Noir. The grapes are from estate vineyards on the Boucherie Bench where the volcanic rock and clay add great dimension to this fresh wine. The grapes were crushed and soaked overnight allowing the clear juice to draw flavour and colour from the darker grape skins before it was separated for cool fermentation. This wine is meant to be consumed early while the flavours are crisp and vibrant.
Tasting Notes:
Fresh is the word! And, very pretty in pink! Aromas of strawberry, cherry and rose petal combine with a fresh palate of cranberry, spicy strawberry and melon to create a succulent, refreshing wine. The layers of fruit are enhanced by the wine's crisp acidity resulting in an extremely versatile wine that is perfect for sipping with friends or with antipasto platters, melon and proscuitto or barbequed pork. Stock up for the season and serve well chilled.
