Our Distinction Collection offers enthusiasts handcrafted, experimental wines that fine-tune combinations of varieties, clones, rootstocks and winemaking techniques. Our Dijon Clone Pinot Noir is an exclusive selection from our clone 115 plantings, dedicated to our brother Benjamin who pioneered the introduction of numerous Burgundian clones in Canada.
A true expression of its heritage, this vintage braces drama on the palate that only clone 115 can offer. A benchmark expression worthy of any connoisseur.
Dark cherry lifts from the glass, accompanied by mushroom and other earthy aromatics – a characteristic of clone 115. The long finish builds up gradually with graceful persistence, supple tannins and bright acidity throughout.
The Distinction Collection answers the latest challenges that we have embarked upon – dealing with climate change, pushing stylistic boundaries and fine-tuning combinations of varieties, clones, rootstocks and winemaking techniques that lead to new archetypes. We recently caught up with Winemaker, Kailee Frasch to learn more about the 2021 Dijon Clone Pinot Noir and what makes it so special.
“Dijon Clone plantings are so interesting and fun to work with. They have so many unique characteristics. Each year, the Dijon Clone Pinot Noir allows our team the opportunity to workshop and experiment with new blends. In previous years, we typically blend a variety of clones. However, this vintage is made entirely from clone 115, planted on two sites in West Kelowna and pulls on a unique taste of terroir from each vineyard.”
“This vintage is the first that we’ve made entirely from clone 115. In comparison to the other Dijon Clone plantings, clone 115 is sort of known as the powerhouse of the group. It delivers consistently high-quality flavours, brimming with both fruity and earthy characteristics which you’ll find consistently throughout this vintage. This wine is sure to satisfy any Pinot Noir lover and is perfect for sharing amongst friends.”
