Brand Manager

The Stewart Family, a third generation pioneering Canadian wine family, first planted vines at their Okanagan Valley estate in 1961. With over half a century of experience in viticulture and winemaking, the family appreciates the intricacies of farming premium vineyards and crafting fine wine, bringing together a portfolio of luxury wine brands including Quails’ Gate Winery (British Columbia, Canada), Lake Sonoma Winery (Sonoma, CA), and Valley of the Moon at Madrone Estate (Glen Ellen, CA).

Based out of our West Kelowna office, we are seeking a talented individual to join our team and be responsible for executing the brand’s strategic marketing initiatives and the brand vision, strategy and growth.  This role will also ensure that each brand works collaboratively with the estate and be the guardian of the overall brand image.

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for building the brands by leading the development and championing the brand to accelerate growth.  They will oversee new product development to identify and leverage customer, category and competitive insights to create innovative products.   The Brand manager will conduct in-depth analysis of our brand health to develop our strategic initiatives.

The candidate must have a Bachelors’ degree in Marketing (MBA preferred) along with 2 years’ experience in premium/luxury, alcohol beverage and/or consumer products marketing.  They should have knowledge of the category, and a track record of managing new products from concept to shelf.  Understanding of retail and shopper dynamics in Canada and the US is strongly recommended.

Cellar Technician

Quails’ Gate Winery is nestled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia. Our 125+ acre estate winery, located on the shores of Lake Okanagan, is owned and operated by the Stewart Family, pioneering horticulturists since the turn of the 20th century.

We are seeking an experienced Cellar Technician, to contribute to all facets of Cellar operations. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, must be able to work as a collaborative team member, as well as have the ability to work independently. She/he will be a keen multi-tasker who can thrive in a busy work environment while ensuring high quality and standards are continually met.

This position will be responsible for:

Active involvement in the execution of cellar operation in order to reinforce standard operating procedures, cellar fundamentals and accurate record keeping.

Cellar operations include: performing vintage related tasks, tanker operations, sanitization of tanks/equipment, transfers, rackings and ingredient additions, pump overs/punch downs, monitoring of fermentation, operating pumps, filters and crush/press equipment, barrel maintenance and bottling line preparation/operation.

Maintenance of winery’s high standards of upkeep and hygiene.

Record maintenance including the recording of all winery activities, lab records from analysis, cellar operations worksheets and equipment logs.

Assisting with stock takes as required

The requirements for this job are as follows:

Chemistry or winery background (minimum 2 years)

Knowledge of wine cellar operating procedures/equipment

Knowledge of safe cellar practice (confined space, ladders and elevated space procedures)

Fork Lift license

Team player, physically fit (able to lift up to 50 lbs) good work ethic

Computer literate – familiar with MS Office Suite

Ability to understand an perform basic math

A degree in wine science would be an asset but not necessary

Harvest Intern

We are seeking Harvest Interns from September – November of this year. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Assisting in receiving and processing fruit, sorting, pressing etc.,

Perform punch downs, pump-overs,

Monitor fermentation Brix and temperature, as needed,

Racking juice, filling, topping and stirring barrels,

Removing pomace from tanks and presses,

Safe operation of a forklift,

Accurate record keeping,

Operate crusher/de-stemmer, press, conveyer, and pump,

General cleaning and sanitization of winery and winery equipment.

The requirements for this job are as follows: must have attention to detail, a positive attitude, the willingness to work hard and get dirty and the ability to work well with others is essential.

Previous cellar experience or winemaking education,

Ability to perform the physical demands of cellar work such as, bending, stooping, climbing ladders and barrels,

Lift and carry 50 pounds,

Ability to work long hours/weekends in various conditions,

Valid forklift license

Vineyard Workers

We are seeking 30 Vineyard Workers who will be responsible for pruning, tying, shoot positioning, canopy maintenance, fruit thinning, picking and planting or other duties as requested by, or in conjunction, with, the Vineyard Operations Team.
