Weekend Receptionist

Quails’ Gate Winery is nestled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia. Our 125+ acre estate winery, located on the shores of Lake Okanagan, is owned and operated by the Stewart Family, pioneering horticulturists since the turn of the 20th century.

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team through to September 28, 2019 as our Weekend Receptionist.

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will provide weekend administrative support and reception duties including greeting visitors, answering incoming calls, booking tours and taking reservations while upholding the highest quality of customer service. They will have a minimum of 2 years of office administration/reception experience, demonstrate a high level of energy, and be professional in their approach.  This role is also responsible for supporting the Wine Club (by completing club sign ups) as well as entering invoices and other general administration as needed.

What we offer:

The opportunity to be part of a successful and growing estate winery team.  This position is the first point of contact for our customers and visitors.  This role is seasonal and will be paid $15.00/hour.

This role will be scheduled Saturdays/Sundays and Statutory Holidays from 9:30 am– 6:00 pm. Opportunities may arise to work other days as needed.

Allocation and Pricing Manager

The Allocation and Pricing Manager will administer the planning, distribution and inventory control of all wines produced in Canada and the USA.  They are also vested with the responsibility to maximize yield management per case for the company.

The main focus will be to oversee the stock allocation by channel to ensure we are achieving best possible margins.  This role will manage inventory levels to ensure key trade channels are maintained and minimize stock outs.  They will also manage older stock and determine plans with DTC/Wholesale Channels.  They will provide a monthly sales report to the Senior team and Sales Teams by revenue/cases sold and communicate changes to allocation/pricing.

The ideal candidate will be an Expert User in Excel, have proven organization and planning skills and have a Business Degree or related equivalent experience.  You will also be familiar with a medium sized business in a similar or complementary industry.

We are seeking an outgoing and experienced cook with a passion for food and wine who not only can independently execute set 5 course plated service but who also isn’t intimated to engage with guests and speak to the dishes being served. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cook who is looking to work set daytime hours.  Applicants should have successfully completed a formal chef training program & have their Inter Provincial Red Seal, along with the Food Safe Level 2 Certificate.  WSET or ISG training an asset.

  • Coordinating grape receival, which includes weighing, sorting and entering pertinent information into a database system
  • Participating in regular tastings with the Winemaker to organize cellar operations and trials
  • Educating and leading the team to promote communication, work safety and ensuring wine quality; address safety and employee performance issues promptly and appropriately – ensure employees are aware of and observe company policies & procedures

The requirements for this job are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Oenology, Fermentation Science, Viticulture or related field from a recognized university
  • Minimum 1 year experience in supervision of a harvest cellar team
  • Minimum 3 years of cellar experience
  • Experience in winery laboratory and have the ability to understand and correlate wine analysis

The requirements for this job are as follows: must have attention to detail, a positive attitude, the willingness to work hard and get dirty and the ability to work well with others is essential.

Vineyard Workers

We are seeking 30 Vineyard Workers who will be responsible for pruning, tying, shoot positioning, canopy maintenance, fruit thinning, picking and planting or other duties as requested by, or in conjunction, with, the Vineyard Operations Team. Previous experience in vineyard or orchard work is preferred but not mandatory.

Applicants must be willing to commit to:

  • Up to 60+ hours/wk, Mon.-Sat. with occasional Sunday work
  • Available all weekends during the stated time period
  • Available to travel to vineyard sites in West and East Kelowna as well as Osoyoos and any other vineyards where we harvest grapes

Wage Rate: Minimum Rate of $13.85 per hour.  Rate of pay to be determined by experience.  Please note that these positions are defined as Farm Workers under the Employment Standards Regulations for BC and will be paid as per the details in the Employment Standards Act.

Equipment Operator

We are seeking an experienced individual to join the team in the role of Equipment Operator.  This position will involve spraying, mowing and associated vineyard duties such as pruning, tying, shoot positioning, canopy maintenance, fruit thinning, picking and planting or other duties as requested by, or in conjunction, with, the Vineyard Operations Team.

Applicants must be willing to commit to:
